It occurs to me, a little late in the game as most things usually do, that before one starts a website, one should know how to, like, run a website and stuff. Or, um. Make it look nice.
I'll be honest - I have no idea what CSS means, I know very little about things like "bandwidth" or even "html." I know how to make stuff bold and put pictures in and how to make the words all centered and pretty-like on the page. That's pretty much as my far internet knowledge goes. Oh, I'm also mad good at googling stuff and pretending I'm smart. Kind of.
At any rate, I know there are people reading this. Typepad's control panel says so, damnit! So could anyone recommend a good "how to make a website not look like a 14 year old girl's livejournal?" book, or page, or anything? Let's keep it real beginners-like over here, we're talking "CSS for really, really, dumb, silly girls. Girls who may have walked around all day with a kitkat rapper stuck to her ass and gave people dirty looks for laughing at her, because 'WHAT, ASSHOLE? WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM' except not really, cuz that would be fucking weird, right?"
...Thanks.
Hey, I read this. So there.
CSS stands for um.. oh yeah, cascading style sheets, which means "crap to make your site look rilly kewl".
Problem is, I know nothing of typepad. I cook my web stuff from scratch, just like your McDonald's worker cooks up those scratch-made biscuits... mmm. Actually, I use blogger.com, and I spent too long trying to figure out how to format it. It gets worse, since I did some crazy shit to get my blog to post directly to my main website.
But the main thing you want to know is probably how to use typepad to make your blog look pink, or something. Well, google is always your friend. So to add a banner, google something like: typepad banner customize
You can find examples of how to do anything you want to do in webland. However, don't count on anything working the first time. It goes like this: find example on web to do X, try to do X, find out it doesn't work. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. .. until you find a way that works or you throw your computer as far as you can.
Actually, you said you're in school, so you might as well take a class in web stuff. I'm sure they have web publishing classes for non-geeks.

Oh my holy mother fuck, I got a comment that didn't involve emailing my friends with death threats. I am like, amazed and shit.
But hey, thanks a lot for the tips! I will get to the googling, and if you come back tomorrow and it's all "cannot load page" you'll know it's because I broke the internet.
